What is a CSA?
Consumer Supported Agriculture, or CSA, is a subscription based agreement between a consumer and a local grower/farmer. A "share" is paid for at the beginning of a growing season. In turn, the grower/farmer provides weekly baskets of seasonally grown produce. In this way, the consumer shares in the risks AND the benefits of eating nutritious, tasty and fresh produce.
How do I get my weekly share?
At the beginning of the growing season, the customer decides if he/she would like to pay for delivery, pick up at at "pick-up site", or visit the farm for their basket.
How do I know what size to order?
Our shares are sold in two sizes. A Full-Share is anywhere from 4- 8 items that are growing in season. A Half-Share is about 4 items in season. An example of a half share in the summer season could consist of the following: 1 qt. of beans, 2-3 cucumbers, 1 qt. of tomatoes and a head of lettuce. A full share in the same season might have all of the above, plus 2 zucchini, 2 onions, 3 peppers and eggplant.
Can I choose my produce?
We are unable to allow choice of produce; however, feel free to make suggestions for growing in the future. While we cannot tell what will be in the share each week, due to the variances in weather, we know you'll enjoy the surprise!
How do I know how to prepare my food I receive each week?
We are currently working on a "Recipe" page. We will try to have recipes that we enjoy for the produce that is in season.
Can I tour the gardens?
Yes! Just give us a call to set up a time to be available. We know you would enjoy seeing where your food is grown. In our opinion, our 80 acres is one of the most beautiful around and we LOVE to share it.
Can I get a refund if I cancel?
No, once you join the CSA your share is reserved for the entire growing season.
How do I purchase my CSA?
The most simple way right now is to send me an e-mail requesting an application to: saroy@diamondrfamilyfarms.com . I can send you an attachment to print. Fill it out and return it along with a check to: Greg and Shannon Roy. We will then reserve your share for this growing season.
